i have never been this unhappy with any company. i was browsing the site and adding things to my cart to come back to then the next day i see a charge of $111 in my bank account. i called immediately and told CS that i did not place an order and i do not want any of it. i was told "unfortunately its way too late to cancel". i simply dont understand how it can be too late to cancel an order i never placed. i was on the phone with them for 15 minutes and the best he could do was refund $50. certainly better than nothing but now i am receiving $111 worth of food that I dont want and am still paying for it when i never authorized the charge.
I tried two medium sized boxes of organic produce from Imperfect Foods. Both times, completely rotted produce (not imperfect - but rotted moldy) were included in the box.
Apart from the rotted produce, when you open up the box you get the impression that someone is profiting from food that may have otherwise been sold or donated to a food pantry. There are millions starving in the U.S. We will be using our income to buy instead from CSAs and small farmers directly.

I've been using Imperfect Foods for 2 months or so and it's been great for me. I have a week to plan my meals with the ingredients I order, and minus one missing item which was quickly resolved, I've never had any concerned with the products delivered.
Remember to review/update your order each week to ensure you don't get items you don't want. The reminder comes every Monday for me and I always review, exclude and add items for my Friday deliveries.
Sorry to see the negative reviews, as Imperfect Foods is my weekly "grocery shopping" now.
i received an order i placed .the order was poorly packed.items looked as if they were just tossed into the box cherries i had ordered were rolling around in the bottom of the packing box. jars of puddng were loose in the box.the first boxes i received were left out on my porch and not retrieved by me until later in the day. they were so heavely packed i had to unpack them on the porch and bring the items inside on my rollater. i am handycapped and it would be a big help to me if the driver would let me know when he arrrives so i could get him to bring heavy boxes inside for me.
First, I received a shipment I did not shop for or authorize. I contacted customer service and they graciously refunded my money-said to refuse or keep the products.
That is where my good feelings about this end. I opened the box and everything was wet, either from the thawed out ice pack, the bloody chicken that was thawed and leaked all over, or the smashed oranges that were in the box. Not only was this $50 shipment unauthorized, it was unsanitary and most probably was unsafe. Needless to say, everything went in the trash. Stay away!!
Want to know the reality of what its like working at imperfect foods? There is garbage laying around everywhere. Oh and the food isn't even all "imperfect." They also dont reuse ice packs or boxes like they claim to customers they just let them pile up around the warehouse. There is tons of plastic waste here which seems very counterproductive to the mission. Along with the fact that they don't invest in workers, they would rather have all temporary workers so they don't have to pay benefits. There is alcohol and drug bags all over the parking lot. We even found a used condom inside, nice right? There isn't even enough parking for employees. Imperfect Foods completely lacks integrity. They have compromised their so called "values" trying to become profitable. Corporate greed at its finest. There are no standards at this company, purely just trying to make money off people who think they're doing something good for the planet but creating tons of inorganic waste in the process. It's called #greenwashing look it up.
Poor quality… poor packaging…fed ex refuses to deliver to my apartment front door…missing items..wrecked items.. meat juice all over food..
I canceled. I could get better food at the local food bank and pay nothing. Meat was tough as nails..you buy the same old stuff.. no good variety of produce.. when I started there were lots of options.. not any more.
Just crappy stuff.
I know getting food it’s not supposed to be perfect but some of it was just unedible. For example the avocados were hard and unedible and the limes had no juice. Also some of the squash was small and not good, not even wipe. On many occasions I ordered eggs and some of the eggs were broken and would make a mess in my house. The salmon was pretty good but some of the other fish is not. In fact the some of the fish that wasn’t frozen or even vacuum sealed. This company does not follow instructions where to put my food when leaving it on my doorstep. Anyone could drive by my house and see that big box on my doorstep and there are porch Pirates in my neighborhood and I’ve just been lucky that no one has taken it yet. My directions were very clear and I had called and complained three times on the fourth time I canceled. I would not order from here. If you have Amazon try to order from their fresh menu. The customer service is outstanding. The concept of this company is great but their customer service is so poor that I don’t see how they are going to stay in business. Don’t waste your time don’t try it now maybe try it in a year if they still exist.
I have been using Imperfect for over 3 years in the Los Angeles area so I’ve definitely seen the change. Back in 2017 and 2018 they were very communicative- sent email reminders to update your order, alerted you to changes in your order, sent newsletters, etc. Now for the last 2 years or so I get none of those emails so I have to contact them when I have an issue. At least I get a text to update my box. I’m on a biweekly schedule and tend to skip so I get once a month. Issues are rare for me. If I had an issue every delivery, I wouldn’t tolerate it so I understand some people’s pain points. I have pointed out to them that produce is sometimes closer to spoilage so they can’t charge as much as they do for those items.
I never got the box as a substitute for going to the grocery store. I wanted to reduce waste and get some misshaped produce as they boasted about but most of my stuff was normal just on the smaller side. Now I order for harder to find products like a particular bread that is normally $3 more and not available in local stores and I like trying vegan and new items

First let me state that some of the skeptics that will read my review MAY think or put in writing that I must be a current employee or related to an employee perhaps even have some interest in the company itself. I do not.
I am a senior citizen who lives at the farthest point in the PNW that they still manage to find me to deliver my weekly order box right to my door.
Its hard to find good healthy organic foods that I can afford on a small social security and no pension.
I am also a person with serious health conditions, and the opportunity to buy a better quality of food at a fair price is very surprising to me.
UPDATED:
I am revising my review since now I have been buying from Imperfect foods now for a longer time frame.
I am still not only enjoying the wonderful choices (some things are a bit harder to get because the company may not get that product each week, or they may have a more limited amount of a particular item..but there is always then the opportunity to try another of of their choices. I am doing a lot of healthier choices now...I am cooking more....and my energy level is improving because I now can afford to eat better both produce and meat, dairy ... sea food..poultry. My favorite is the ground bison, yum! Whether I order the bison or the regular hamburger the one thing I noted right away was there was NO water that was infused into the ground meat so that I looked like I was getting more meat then was actually in the package..a trick the grocery stores often us. When I cook it it doesn't get watery but stays the portion and frys up nicely...same with the organic chicken its has excellent flavor. While once in a while I still have a few tiny clitches I am so happy in general with the experience I remind myself that no one company is going to be without a bit of an issue, the difference lays in the companies response when I notify them I have maybe a tangerine or two that's a bit soft (just an example I haven't found one yet..,) This week I tried their orange cranberry scones so that a cup of something warm in the mornings sitting out on the deck would be great with something yummy. I highly recommend this company...I am very pleased with their whole mission statement to reduce food waste but still provide a great product to their clients, and they have met and surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend Imperfect Foods for every household and enjoy eating well and feeling better.
Imperfect foods has an interesting concept and sometimes they deliver decent quality groceries. They aren't the "bargain" some might expect, because they focus a lot on "artisanal" grocery products (which are imo often just overpriced and badly formulated). You end up getting 20% off a product that is 3x the price of the "normal" version.
There are some serious quality and reliability issues. I think this may vary by region. By "ugly" food, one assumes cosmetic defects, not food close to spoilage nor damaged in ways that lead to quick spoilage. Some of the "scarred" foods are actually spoiling. Not good.
*If you are also having contamination issues, you can contact the FDA -esp for eggs, meat, chicken!*
They also have a really bad problem with warehousing and packing. I have had food arrive covered in raw egg, even when there were no eggs in my box. Hello FDA? This has happened several times.
Often - most weeks - there are wrong items, missing items, and completely random items in the box.
Most weeks also feature smashed items, slashed or broken open packaging, and crushed broken items. These include tomatoes, slashed open packages of fish, shattered bags of pasta (that takes talent!), lettuces that look like they exploded in the box, crushed cukes, broken zucchini (again - takes talent!), crushed boxes of berries and berries and small fruits wandering around the box and getting mushed. Eggs are a roll of the dice.
Their customer support is ludicrously bad. Don't even expect a reply unless you document everything in the box with photographs (treat your groceries like a crime scene, folks!). They're set up to funnel customers with problems AWAY from support and into an endless loop of chirpy useless articles. When you finally get to a contact form -no direct email or phone number - you get an autoresponder and no support.
Everything about this company is organized around what is easy and convenient for them, and you - the customers - are expected to just suck it up.
Delivery times and days are chosen by them, no flexibility for customers. The time window is until 9 PM! Yay - groceries that arrive and need cleaning, repackaging and storage when you REALLY want to start winding down! (For example)
A mess.
The website was totally confusing. It indicates the customer needs to give credit info in order to order food before you have a chance to see what your getting. I spent about 20 minutes trying to get a sense of what they had to offer but could find little. They indicated a "shopping window" would appear in several days. I just dismissed it then as a waste of time. About 10 days later I'm notified I'm receiving an order! I called and they did say they canceled my "order" though the box was delivered the same day and I could not return it. Inside it had like four oranges two cumbers three apples, four carrots etc. Their was a 12 oz small box of shrimp and a handful of items I would not be interested in purchasing. Basically I could duplicate this order easily for no more than 20 or 25 dollars. The reason I gave two stars instead of one was they supposedly cancelled the order though I received it and are not charging me. Just to be safe I called my bank to cancel as well. Misleading and certainly not worth the money in either case.
I tried two medium sized boxes of organic produce from Imperfect Foods. Both times, completely rotted produce (not imperfect - but rotted moldy) were included in the box.
